The Cambridgeshire Meeting is in full swing and the second day is upping the ante with great horse racing fixtures like the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Nayef Joel Stakes. Our favourite bookmakers – Bet365, Betfair and 888Sports – are offering odds on all races running at Newmarket Racecourse today as part of the Cambridgeshire Meeting; so you can compare odds and make sure you are getting the best deal. But before you place your bets, check out our favourites for this afternoon’s feature fixtures:

Nayef Joel Stakes – 1.55pm – Newmarket Racecourse

This one mile challenge for thoroughbreds aged three and older is classified Group3 and sports a field of eleven talented runners.

The current race favourite is Penitent, trained by William Haggas and paired with jockey Johnny Murtagh. Penitent has thus far started in eight career races, finishing first four times and coming second three times – this means this great gelding has only finished outside the money once. With a resume like this it is no surprise Penitent is priced at 7-2 by Bet365 and 3-1 by 888Sports.

Second favourite is the outstanding Cityscape, winner of the Superior Mile at Haydock on September 4th. Cityscape is priced 7-2 by Bet365, 9-2 by Betfair and 4-1 by 888Sports. The four-year-old colt is training with Richard Charlton and will be ridden by Steve Drowne, who has accompanied Cityscape in most of his career races.

For full odds and field, visit Bet365, Betfair or 888Sports.

Adnams Cheveley Park Stakes – 2.30pm – Newmarket Racecourse

This six furlong sprint for elite fillies aged two is classified Group 1 and features eleven of this season’s fastest young ladies.

The favourite for this event is Hooray, priced 5-1 by Bet365 and Betfair and 9-2 by 888Sports. Hooray is training with Sir Mark Prescott and has been experiencing a brilliant season with her regular jockey Seb Sanders. The filly has won her last two consecutive races, most recently the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton Park, beating a field of five by 3 ¾ length over six furlongs, so we can safely assume the sprinting distance will suit Hooray just fine.

The staunchest competition for the Prescott-trained champion is Maqaasid from the stables of John Gosden. The filly has only competed in three races thus far but has already collected two victories, including the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot. Since August Maqaasid has been on a training hiatus with her regular jockey Richard Hills, doing excellent work and constantly improving her form. The filly is priced 5-1 by Bet365, 7-1 by Betfair and 11-2 by 888Sports.
